One Day Trek to Asheri Fort on 21st August 2016

The Sahyadris beckon & the lure is getting stronger with approaching monsoon clouds. There is nothing more beautiful than the view of the Sahyadris in the rains.

Join Nisarga Bhraman as we explore the Mighty Fort of Asheri located in Palghar region on Sunday, 21st August 2016.




About the place:

Asheri is big brother of other forts in the Palghar region due to its massiveness and height. 
Base village is Khodkona. It takes approx 1.5 hrs to reach the col & then 0.5hrs to reach the top. In the col, there is a temple of Vaghjai. The route then leads to carved steps. Remains of settlements, a ruined entrance, fortification symbols, Portuguese shield, 17 water cisterns, 2 lakes, a cave, temple are the things to see on top. One can see forts like Asheri, Adasul, Kohoj.

About Bandhavgarh -

Bandhavgarh National Park is a most popular tourist destination for wildlife and nature lovers. The park got the status of national park in the year of 1968. Sprawl over an area of 450 Square Kilometers, the Bandhavgarh National Park is known for its breathtaking array of flora and fauna. Its geographical positioning has gifted a repository of over 250 species of birds and 22 different species of mammals. Though, the park is considered as the real home of white tigers but the park provides shelter to several Indian wildlife species like Leopards, Sloth Bear, Jungle cat, Jackal, Bison, Cheetals, Langgors and Sambars. The spring season January through March is an ideal time to explore the wildlife of the park. The place is equipped with legendary themes like- full of rich history and natural beauty.
